We are simply Christians worshipping God and living our lives according to His divine word. We believe God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die for the salvation of humankind. Those who beileve and follow the plan of salvation have the hope of eternal life in Heaven.

Our congregation first began in 1962 as a goal to spread God’s word by members from the Ford Avenue Church of Christ, located in Highland Park, MI. They wanted to ensure that the gospel was taught throughout the city of Detroit and knew the best way to accomplish that goal would be to start congregations in an area with no church of Christ presence. One of these areas was northwest Detroit, specifically the 8 Mile Road and Wyoming neighborhood. 

After securing the finances needed, many brothers from Ford Ave. with construction expertise got to work on our original building on the corner of Wyoming and Chippewa. Finally, in July 1966, Wyoming Avenue Church of Christ opened its doors for worship, and our doors have been open ever since.

Since our 1966 beginnings, God has grown our congregation from 40 members to over 350. We still adhere to our original mission of teaching God’s word and have done so with programs and services extending beyond the four walls of our building.
